Why to travel to Phuket Island

Phuket, very well-known island in the Andaman sea. It's also the biggest island in Thailand and is connected to the mainland with a bridge. Phuket has over 30 beaches of which Patong is the most popular and well-known. Thus, if you're looking for fun, party and excitement then go to Patong and all night entertainment is guaranteed.

However, if you’re more family oriented and you look only for a restful place, Karon or Kata beach southern from Patong is your best choice.

Phuket has the size a bit smaller than Singapore and it has a bit of everything for everyone. It has its own international airport for direct flights from all over the world, it has various beaches, it has crazy night party life, it has amazing food and it offers great shopping.

Thanks to a huge expat community it has an abundance of western choice of food in restaurants and shopping malls.

You probably remember tsunami on December 26th 2004 resulting from an Indian Ocean earthquake. If this is the concern which stops you from going to Phuket let me tell you that Thailand launched the first of the 22 U.S.-made tsunami-detection buoys positioned around the Indian Ocean as part of a regional warning system in December, 2006. The satellite-linked deep-sea buoy floats 620 miles offshore near the midway point between Thailand and Sri Lanka. So no need to be worry, you will be informed well in advance if the same thing happens again.

Phuket, especially Patong has also very vivid gay scene with one whole street dedicated only to gay bars and night clubs. Don’t miss it up but be sure that you’re not ending up with a lady boy if you’re not into the same sex fun :)

So do go to Phuket if you’re in to the beautiful nature, great beaches and well supportive touristic infrastructure. You will have a great time.

And don’t forget to use Phuket as a departure port for many great islands between Phuket and Krabi, especially Phi Phi island is incredible.

P.S. And don't forget to use Thailand Postcard application to send beautiful photo of Phuket or your own as a postcard to your family&friends.
